Where cars are made: the free dataset
Assembly country, US and Canadian parts content, and engine and transmission origin for 601 model-year records of cars sold in the US, 2025 to 2027.
What the data shows for 2026
- Of 267 models for 2026, 95 (36%) have at least one US assembly plant, and 78 are built only in the USA.
- The highest US and Canadian parts content belongs to the Volkswagen ID.4 (76%), Honda Ridgeline (75%), Kia EV6 (75%), Tesla Model 3 (75%) and Jeep Gladiator (74%).
- Of models assembled entirely outside the US, most come from Germany, Japan and Mexico.

How it was built
Each year, automakers file a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for every passenger vehicle up to 8,500 lb sold in the US. It lists the final assembly country, the share of parts made in the US and Canada, and where the engine and transmission come from. We combined the 2025, 2026 and 2027 reports into one record per model and year. Heavier pickups and vans are not covered, and some models are filed later in the year.
